Head Coach
Elmbridge Phoenix Swimming Club in Surrey is looking for an experienced Head Coach to lead and develop the Club.
We are a successful competitive swimming club with a busy Development programme, competitive squad, training squad and a performance programme (with swimmers of County, Regional and National levels). This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven leader who can inspire swimmers of all abilities.
Working Hours: Part Time, 24 hours a week
Coaching Qualifications and Experience:
- Mandatory Qualification: Minimum of Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 Coaching Award
- Proven coaching experience: experience coaching swimmers at club level and above.
- Track record of development: Demonstrable experience in developing swimmers through competitive levels: County, Regional and National competitions, with a focus on performance swimming and talent progression.
Key Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Set the vision for the Club and performance targets
- Design and deliver annual training plans and seasonal cycles for all squads and individual swimmers, as appropriate
- Coaching hours for the Performance 1 squad plus Club admin hours. (12 coaching and 12 admin per week, totalling 24 hours per week)
- Organise, attend and report on all necessary competitions, including a minimum of two full-day meets per month (where applicable), County, Regional and National meets.
- Lead, mentor and develop the coaching team and oversee performance
- Ensure the Coaching team are in compliance with professional qualifications, including DBS, safeguarding and the Swim England online management system.
- Play a pivotal role in developing the reputation and long-term success of the Club.

- a motivator with excellent people management skills who can inspire coaches, volunteers, and swimmers.
- someone with a strong understanding of competitive swimming and athlete development pathways.

Development Coach(es)
Role Overview
We are looking for a Development Coach to support our Development squads. You will deliver structured, skill-focused sessions to help swimmers improve and progress along the club pathway, while fostering a strong sense of team spirit and demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding and the welfare of all swimmers.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow structured planning to deliver training sessions for Development squads.
- Support swimmers in improving technique, race skills, and confidence in competing.
- Provide constructive, positive feedback in training.
Attend coach team meetings and term squad meetings - Prepare feedback for swimmers and parents.
- Attend Galas and Club Championships
- Work with the coaching team to foster a positive, supportive, and team-focused environment where swimmers feel motivated and encouraged.
Essential Criteria
- Level 2 ASA Swim Teacher or Level 1 Coaching Qualification (Swim England/ASA).
- Good communication skills and enthusiasm for working with children.
- Current Enhanced DBS check and Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics course.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all swimmers.
Desirable
- Some experience coaching or assisting young swimmers in a club or school environment.
