Level 2 Swim Teacher

 

We're looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Level 2 Swim Teacher to deliver safe, engaging, and high-quality swimming lessons to learners of all ages and abilities. You'll help swimmers build water confidence, develop correct technique, and progress through structured stages — all while making sessions fun and supportive.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver structured swimming lessons in line with the Learn to Swim framework

• Teach correct stroke technique (front crawl, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly basics as appropriate)

• Adapt lessons to suit different ages, abilities, and learning styles

• Ensure a safe environment by following all pool safety and safeguarding procedures

• Continuously assess swimmer progress and provide clear feedback to swimmers and parents

• Keep accurate lesson registers and progression records

• Set up and pack away equipment as needed

• Promote a positive, inclusive, and motivating learning atmosphere

• Respond confidently and appropriately to emergencies in line with pool procedures

• Work collaboratively with other teachers, lifeguards, and management

 

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Level 2 Swimming Teacher Qualification (e.g., Swim England/ASA Level 2 or equivalent)

• Valid Safeguarding & Child Protection training

• Current First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)

 

Skills & Experience

• Experience teaching group swimming lessons

• Strong knowledge of stroke mechanics and teaching progressions

• Ability to manage groups confidently and maintain discipline in a positive way

• Excellent communication skills with both children and adults

• Patient, encouraging, and energetic teaching style

• Strong awareness of health and safety practices

 

Desirable

• Experience teaching swimmers with additional needs

• National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers & Coaches (NRASTC) or equivalent

• Experience delivering 1:1 lessons

Working Conditions
